Day Zero Ready · The Jobsite Readiness Standard

Concrete Flatwork Track

The Concrete Flatwork Track combines foundational jobsite readiness with concrete-focused situations and fundamentals. It prepares entry-level workers for the expectations, decisions, communication, tools, workflow and professional habits they are likely to encounter around concrete-flatwork operations.

Foundational readiness

Prepared to contribute. Ready to keep learning.

Learners build readiness to listen, communicate, recognize basic conditions, follow direction, protect the work and contribute to a crew. This is foundational readiness, not trade mastery.

  • Safety Awareness
  • Reliability
  • Professionalism
  • Communication
  • Jobsite & Tool Awareness
  • Concrete Fundamentals

How it works

Modules, built from missions

The program is organized into modules. Each module is made up of missions. A mission is a short, focused unit of work — not a classroom lesson — designed to be finished in one sitting, on a phone, before or after a shift.

01

Objective

What you will be able to do when the mission is finished.

02

Brief

Short context on why this matters on a real jobsite.

03

Key terms

The words crews actually use, defined in plain English.

04

Watch / read

A short piece of instruction — no filler.

05

Do

A practical task that turns the idea into an action.

06

Quick check

A brief check for understanding before moving on.

07

Field notes

Habits, cautions and details experienced workers expect.

08

Badge

Recorded progress that adds up toward completion.

Time commitment

About 2.5 to 3 hours

The program is intentionally short. It is preparation, not a trade course. Workers can finish it in a few sittings, and organizations can fit it in before an orientation or a first assignment.

DZR doesn't replace hands-on training. It prepares workers to get more from it.

The path

Learn. Prove. Arrive ready.

  1. 01

    Learn

Understand practical jobsite fundamentals — terminology, measurements, sequencing and expectations.

  2. 02

    Prove

Complete Missions and demonstrate understanding with quick checks and applied tasks.

  3. 03

    Arrive Ready

Enter the field with a stronger foundation for real-world training and hands-on work.

Readiness credential

What completion means

This Day Zero Ready credential confirms measured foundational jobsite readiness across DZR competencies through the Concrete Flatwork Track. It is issued only after approved completion of the Day Zero Ready Jobsite Readiness Standard pathway.

What it is not

  • Not a license of any kind.
  • Not an OSHA card or safety certification.
  • Not a union or apprenticeship credential.
  • Not a trade license.
  • Not apprenticeship completion or proof of skilled-trade mastery.
  • Not an employment guarantee.

Preparation starts before Day One.

Whether you are starting in construction or hiring people who are, Day Zero Ready builds the foundation before production starts.
